My love affair with music began at the age of 9 when my dad purchased a two octave Casio keyboard for me. I was smitten. However, years later, my big dream of attending music school was crushed. During that disappointing period, I learned how to better my songwriting skills, manage a band, record music and build a brand organically – through hands on experience, a lot of fumbling and most importantly, persistence.
Other than singing + songwriting + composition, I love to teach musicians how to avoid the same pitfalls I encountered. I think that every musician has something to contribute and by learning through others’ struggles, one is able to maintain credibility and authenticity.
In 2012, I released my debut album Kilio and I am scheduled to release yet another in 2018. In the years between, I gravitated towards leadership, ultimately attaining a Master’s in Organisational Leadership. By combining my passion for music and leadership, I’ve developed a course – Music in Leadership Development which teaches creatives through the use of music metaphors how to navigate group dynamics while leading one’s team to be exemplary.
You can sign up for this course in the Courses section below.
When I am not singing, writing music or doing a music exam/teaching, you will find me writing scholarly papers on how the arts impact social change. Some of my work has been published in a book by Emerald Group Publishing.
So I invite you to stay, read my blog, download my music or enroll in an e-course or two.
On this website, no matter what part of the music journey you are, or how hard it’s been, you are a HERO!
